Which CPUs and disks do Tihost and Hetzner use?

Tihost names its CPU models: the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (Zen 3) in Germany and Finland and the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (Zen 5) in Poland - compared in AMD Ryzen 9 5950X vs 9950X. Hetzner lists only the vendor: AMD in Regular Performance and General Purpose, Intel/AMD or Ampere (Arm64) in Cost-Optimized, and for Cost-Optimized Hetzner says it uses older processor generations. Both providers use NVMe disks.

Where are Tihost and Hetzner servers located?

The cities the two providers share are Falkenstein in Germany and Helsinki in Finland. Hetzner Cloud is also available in Nuremberg (Germany), Ashburn and Hillsboro (USA) and Singapore; Tihost also offers Warsaw (Poland). On the Regular Performance plan cards on October 5, 2026, Falkenstein (FSN1) was listed only for CPX12, with the other configurations in Nuremberg and Helsinki. How to choose a country for your audience is covered in choosing a VPS location.

How much traffic and what network speed?

Hetzner Cloud's Regular Performance plans in the EU include 20 TB of traffic a month, with €1.00 per extra terabyte; in the US and Singapore the included volume is smaller - 0.5 to 5 TB depending on the plan. According to Hetzner's FAQ, hosts have a 10 Gbps uplink shared by all servers on the host, with no speed guarantee and about 300-500 Mbps to be expected. Tihost's network is 1 Gbps in Germany and Finland and up to 10 Gbps in Poland.

Hourly billing or prepayment?

Hetzner Cloud bills servers by the hour: each plan has an hourly price and a monthly cap, a server is billed until it is deleted (even when powered off), and the invoice arrives the following month. Hetzner offers no annual or semi-annual billing and no prepayment. Tihost is prepaid: you top up your balance in advance, rent a server for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, and get discounts of 10%, 15% and 20% for 3, 6 and 12 months.

How to pay, and is verification required?

Hetzner accepts bank transfer, credit cards, PayPal and SEPA direct debit (for euro accounts); Hetzner's payment documentation states plainly that it does not accept cryptocurrencies. According to its privacy policy, Hetzner runs a risk assessment on new accounts and in individual cases may ask you to verify your identity with a valid ID document. Tihost requires no KYC: you sign up with email, Google or Telegram and top up with crypto or a card - methods and fees are in paying for a VPS with crypto.

How you manage the server: Console, API, bot

At Hetzner Cloud you create and configure servers in the Hetzner Console web interface; the same functions are available through a REST API and a CLI, with official Go and Python libraries and integrations for Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes. Tihost offers a web panel, the @tihost_bot Telegram bot, a VNC console in the browser and a public API (examples in the API guide).

When Hetzner is the better choice

  • You need hourly billing. Servers for tests, CI or one-off jobs at Hetzner Cloud cost only the hours they run.
  • You need locations outside Europe. Hetzner Cloud is available in the US (Ashburn, Hillsboro) and Singapore.
  • You need dedicated vCPUs or lots of memory per core. The General Purpose line offers dedicated vCPUs, up to 48 vCPU and 192 GB RAM per server.
  • Infrastructure as code. REST API, CLI, libraries and Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes integrations, plus private networks, free firewalls, load balancers and block storage.
  • You want provider-side backups and snapshots. Hetzner sells them as paid add-ons: daily backups with 7 slots and snapshots billed per gigabyte.
  • When Cost-Optimized is back in stock. By the website prices, that line is cheaper than Tihost for the same vCPU and RAM, when its servers are available.

When Tihost is the better choice

  • Price for always-on servers matters. 2 vCPU / 4 GB / 80 GB NVMe costs $7.70 a month versus €19.99 for CPX22, with a 20% discount for a year.
  • You need a Windows server. Windows is selectable at checkout - details in Windows VPS and RDP.
  • Crypto payments and sign-up without KYC. Email, Google or Telegram is enough, and you top up with USDT, TON, BTC or a card.
  • Managing from your phone. The @tihost_bot Telegram bot orders, pays for, reboots and reinstalls a server without opening the website.
  • A known CPU model. AMD Ryzen 9 5950X or 9950X, and up to 10 Gbps networking in Poland.
